Keeping a cool head is often not easy given the shortage of skilled workers. Even if you’re a pro at keeping a cool head and having clear concepts. It’s not that PAKT GmbH lacks experience. Quite the opposite: Founded in 1946, PAKT is older than the Federal Republic of Germany itself. Initially, the company focused on the sale and repair of refrigerators. By the time of its forced nationalization in 1972, the portfolio had already expanded to include commercial refrigeration systems. The company has existed in its current form since 1990, and was privatized again in 1992. In its eventful history, PAKT GmbH has overcome many challenges. Despite all its experience and expertise, filling vacancies has become increasingly difficult in recent years.
Of course, the company is no novice when it comes to recruiting. As always, the company initially took the initiative in its search for an electrical system fitter. Various avenues were explored to find suitable candidates. A final hiring was made through the employment agency. Unfortunately, the candidate quickly proved unsuitable. “It gradually became clear that the employment agency didn’t have the right candidates for us,” says Sebastian Querner. “While the agency couldn’t do anything about that, it was still a problem.”
The search began anew. No stone was left unturned. A social media campaign was even launched, and virtually every online marketing tool was pulled out. All without the desired success.
The search began anew. No stone was left unturned. A social media campaign was even launched, and virtually every online marketing tool was pulled out. All without the desired success.
The search lasted two years until it finally became clear: something had to change.
PAKT GmbH had never dealt with HR consultants before first contacting them through Christoph Eiben. But the Riverstate concept and the friendly exchange quickly convinced them to give it a try.
What the German labor market doesn’t offer can often be found in neighboring Poland. Riverstate has a dedicated department for this: EU Recruiting. Head Recruiter Agnes Raczynski personally oversaw the pre-selection of candidates for Pakt and, as always, did a great job. She not only managed to raise the quality of the candidates from the very beginning, but also filled the vacancy in record time.
“I was particularly impressed by the professional approach,” says Querner. “They ensure that the candidates are truly a good fit for the client. You immediately sensed that these were people who knew what they were doing. This starts with the high-quality pre-selection and continues through to the short, weekly meetings where meaningful adjustments could be made.”
Working closely with the client, Agnes Raczynski quickly managed to present three suitable candidates to PAKT. The third was a direct hit. What had previously been a two-year stalemate, with Riverstate, was a success within two months.
