Evaluation of the cooperation between Mark A. Krüger Construction Company and Riverstate

Despite the difficult market situation: Successful placement of qualified construction managers and foremen.

About the company

“Building better and better” is the motto of the Mark-A. Krüger construction company , which, as a subsidiary of Krüger-Holding GmbH, specializes in the shell construction sector. Together with Krüger Bau Bernau GmbH, the sister company for turnkey construction, the medium-sized group of companies is well positioned for a wide range of construction projects in the Berlin and Brandenburg area. This is also due to the high number of employees in-house, which is typical for the construction industry: 100 employees are spread across both companies, and as a training company, Mark-A. Krüger Construction Company is also creatively shaping the future of its personnel. In addition to training as a bricklayer or concrete and reinforced concrete worker, the company also offers a dual degree program in Civil Engineering (B.Sc.) in cooperation with the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, which involves students in practical day-to-day construction work right from the start. But despite excellent prospects and considerable job security, the search for talented foremen, construction engineers, and managers is proving difficult. “Finding skilled workers who are also willing to take on the rigors of the construction profession is our biggest problem,” says Managing Director Mark-André Krüger. “Since we train our own junior staff, we really only look for absolute professionals externally, and those are hard to come by. What’s more, for us, the person is the most important factor, followed by their qualifications.

That’s why I work with Riverstate :

  • Secure filling of key positions despite difficult market conditions
  • Precise and personal recording of our company and needs profile, as part of a setup day, in order to find talents that are a perfect fit both personally and professionally
  • Guarantee of a constant contact person who conscientiously stays on the ball and informs about progress

Focus on the human ,tailor-made talents

If your own resources aren’t sufficient to fill painful staffing gaps, turning to a recruiter is actually a logical step. Mark-André Krüger was initially skeptical of this alternative: “For me, a recruitment agency is actually the last resort for recruiting workers,” says the managing director. “Far too often, other service providers are unprepared and full of empty promises.”

These reservations are not uncommon in the recruiting business, but Riverstate counteracts the assembly-line nature of the recruitment process with a human conscientiousness that also impressed Mark-André Krüger: “Riverstate clearly stands out from other recruitment agencies, especially in terms of preparation,” says the managing director. “During the setup day, the consultant thoroughly reviewed our company profile and gained insight into what makes us tick. Our needs were precisely analyzed.”

He had worked with recruitment agencies several times before , but he found the setup day to be unique. “In the past, we were always better prepared than the companies that were supposed to help us,” says Mark-André Krüger. “At Riverstate, the consultant had already researched our company and knew what we do and what qualities we strive for. We then went into detail in a four-hour conversation.”

Permanent contact person who will not let up until success

With the help of Riverstate, the Mark-A. Krüger construction company was able to fill key positions in its search for qualified construction managers and foremen and add them to its team. Due to the challenging market situation, it was clear from the outset that the search would require perseverance, and consultant Yasmin Hoffmann brought this to the table.

“Riverstate’s process is more structured and conscientious than other service providers,” says Mark-André Krüger. “I have to expressly praise our consultant Yasmin Hoffmann. She is very reliable and has a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to recruiting. She stays on the ball and spends a long time pursuing promising candidates.”

These potential reinforcements for the group are not easy to attract, but with a constantly available contact person at Riverstate, the decision-makers at Mark-A. Krüger Construction were kept informed of the current status of the search at all times.

The foundation of the collaboration was honest cooperation and respect. This also includes a realistic assessment of the situation, because success requires a certain amount of patience, especially in a market where top talent is hotly contested. “Other agents initially appeared overly optimistic,” says Mark-André Krüger. “In this respect, Riverstate clearly stands out in a positive way and doesn’t make empty promises.”

Looking ahead, Mark-André Krüger remains optimistic about recruiting. “I can also imagine a future collaboration with Riverstate, provided the future viability of the recruited employees is confirmed,” says the Managing Director. “With us and Riverstate, two companies have joined forces that stand for comprehensive openness in intensive and honest collaboration.”
