For the fourth time in a row, Riverstate has received the coveted Kununu Top Company seal. Why this is so significant, what it says about the company, and the secret of its success.

How is corporate success actually measured?

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of entrepreneurial success? – Good numbers? Stable growth? Satisfied customers? … Anything else?

Let’s be honest, who thinks about employee satisfaction first? Yet it’s perhaps the most crucial factor.

A company has a responsibility, especially towards its own workforce. There’s no need to paint it as too paternalistic, but it ensures the employees’ livelihood. Upon closer inspection, however, this is not a one-way street, but a two-way street: Good employees are crucial to the success and survival of a company.

It’s clear that Riverstate HR Consulting does good work and is successful in this regard, as evidenced by numerous positive customer feedback as well as the repeated awards it has received for medium-sized service providers from Wirtschaftswoche and Markt und Mittelstand. Riverstate’s true status as a top company is demonstrated by a completely different award: its Kununu Top Company designation.

Only about 5% of companies on Kununu receive this distinction. It speaks volumes that Riverstate has now received the popular seal for the fourth consecutive year with the Top Company 2024 award. 60 employees have rated the company on Kununu since 2015, achieving an overall score of an incredible 4.2/5 and an unbeatable 100% recommendation rate.

This makes you wonder: How did we do that?

The Riverstate recipe for success

Just as a good meal consists of a variety of ingredients and spices combined in the right proportions, at the right time, and at the right temperature, the same applies to the atmosphere within a team. So, there’s no single adjustment that can suddenly boost employee satisfaction. But there are some guidelines that certainly can’t hurt to consider.

One of the most fundamental aspects is certainly the interpersonal aspect. At Riverstate, we consider whether a person will fit into the team right from the hiring stage. No matter what professional achievements someone may have, the chemistry has to be right. We are a team; each individual is valued, we support one another, and we grow together, regardless of where someone comes from, gender, or age. It’s not for nothing that we have the highest ratings for colleague cohesion (4.7/5), working atmosphere (4.5/5), interaction with older colleagues (4.4/5), and equal opportunities (4.4/5). All of this is further strengthened and promoted through regular team events and milestones achieved and celebrated together.

Another positive aspect is that working at Riverstate is meaningful and has a social component. After all, we help people find their dream jobs, fill their vacancies, and deal constructively with the shortage of skilled workers (Interesting tasks: 4.2/5; Image: 4.2/5; Social awareness: 4.1/5).

The trust placed in employees and the resulting flexibility are remarkable, as is the open and understanding behavior of the managers (communication: 4.2/5; line manager behavior: 4.1/5). Because Riverstate employees are spread across Germany, remote working was already a given before the coronavirus forced much of the country to work from home. At Riverstate, everyone decides for themselves whether and when to come to the office. Work can adapt to life: Are you more of a morning person who wants to start at 7 a.m., do you tend to peak in the afternoon, or have moments of clarity in the middle of the night? Do you need to drop off and pick up children from daycare, or fulfill other obligations? None of this is a problem as long as deadlines are met and the work is completed satisfactorily. (Work-life balance: 4.3/5; working conditions: 4.3/5).

Of course, economic success also contributes to team spirit and employee satisfaction. This demonstrates the interplay mentioned at the beginning: Satisfied employees achieve success that benefits the company, which in turn has a positive impact on the working atmosphere. In every respect, we are ready for 2024.
