For the fifth time in a row, Riverstate , a specialized recruitment consultancy for construction, engineering, and technical specialists, has topped WirtschaftsWoche’s prestigious “Best SME Service Providers” ranking. This year, they even jumped to second place among all recruitment consultancies in Germany—just two index points separate Riverstate from the absolute top spot. And in the engineering and construction sector, they are already the undisputed number one.
How do you find the right partners in recruiting?
German SMEs are facing immense challenges in the face of a shortage of skilled workers and the increasing digitalization of recruiting. Finding highly qualified specialists and managers has become particularly difficult in the engineering, construction, technology, and manufacturing sectors. The search for suitable personnel is becoming increasingly complex – not least due to the individual human element in HR management.
Amid this competitive environment, the need for experienced, specialized HR consultants for small and medium-sized businesses is growing ever greater. But how do companies find the right service provider among the multitude of providers who truly understand their needs?
Orientation through independent rankings
The annual ranking published by WirtschaftsWoche provides guidance, which is one of the most important sources of guidance for decision-makers in the business-to-business services market. The “Best SME Service Providers” study has been conducted by the independent market research institute ServiceValue since 2015.
Between December 2024 and February 2025, over 20,000 executives, purchasing decision-makers, and users were surveyed. 638 service providers from 48 B2B industries were evaluated – including numerous recruitment agencies and executive search consultancies. Those with an overall score above the industry average received the coveted top ranking. Riverstate was once again among the best in this category.
Excellent recruiting strategies for medium-sized businesses
The strong ranking underlines Riverstate’s unique approach: From the outset, the goal was to transfer the high standards and efficient methods of executive search to traditional search mandates – and thus to support medium-sized companies in particular.
Why should only large corporations benefit from direct contact, video interviews, industry-focused consulting, and personal process support? Especially in times when qualified engineers, construction project managers, technicians, construction managers, or specialist planners are hard to find, medium-sized companies need partners who pull out all the stops.
On the way to number 1
Riverstate supports companies in the engineering and construction sectors with customized recruiting solutions, in-depth industry knowledge, and a clear understanding of the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. This combination makes the difference – and explains why Riverstate is consistently on track to become the leading recruitment consultancy.
With second place in the 2025 “Best SME Service Providers” ranking, Riverstate is closer to the top than ever – and shows that excellent recruiting does not have to be the privilege of corporations.
